Everton transfer news: Jonas Lossl arrives from Huddersfield on three-year deal as back-up for Jordan Pickford
Everton have made their first signing of the summer by bringing in Huddersfield goalkeeper Jonas Lossl on a three-year deal. The 30-year-old Denmark international’s deal at the John Smith’s Stadium expires next month and he has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Toffees. He will officially join the Goodison Park outfit on July 1.Lossl, who made 69 Premier League appearances for the Terriers during their two seasons in the top flight, keeping 14 clean sheets, has been brought in as back-up to England number one Jordan Pickford. He made 149 saves in 31 Premier League appearances in his final season for Huddersfield but kept just five clean sheets, as they were relegated back to the Championship.  Everton made the announcement of Lossl’s arrival on their official Twitter page, and the goalkeeper himself later took to social media to react to the move.“Feeling very proud,” he wrote. “Thank you to everybody involved in making this possible. Cant wait to become a part of this great club.”Lossl’s arrival casts doubt on the future of Maarten Stekelenburg, 37 in September, who has made just five appearances in the Europa League and League Cup over the past two seasons. The Dutchman has just one year remaining on his contract and looks set to be moved on with Portugal youth international Joao Virginia promoted from the Under-23s, with whom he won the Premier League 2 title this season.
